Here’s something to smile about. Orthodontist The Woodlands services have simple ways to keep your teeth white and bright NATURALLY. Using chemical whiteners are harsh and can permanently weaken the enamel of your teeth. Add these five easy, inexpensive tips to your regimen for a whiter, healthier smile.
- It’s a given that you should brush and floss immediately after eating. If this is not a convenient option, rinse mouth with water to remove any potentially staining residue from your meal.
- Use a straw to drink drinks that can stain your teeth such as coffee, tea, and red wine.
- Snack on crunchy foods such as carrots and apples. The extra chewing required for these foods helps remove plaque build up.
- Brush teeth with baking soda. It naturally oxidizes stains on tooth enamel. It is also very inexpensive.
- Be proactive. Visit the dentist every six months to have your teeth professionally cleaned and get your kids to a dentist for children. Visit your orthodontist at Midtown dentists to check if you need dental braces.

Love the look of red lips, but afraid it won’t work for you? You really can look great in a classic Chanel red lipstick . It all depends on the undertone. Here is a quick lesson in color theory to help you choose colors that best compliment your complexion.
It is important to take the undertone of your complexion into consideration. The universal categorization of undertones is as follows:
Pink undertones: cool complexion
Yellow undertones: warm complexion
There is no real method to determining your undertone. However, if your veins appear more blue, you more than likely have pink undertones. If your veins appear more green, you more than likely have yellow undertones. Seek the professional assessment of a makeup artist if you are still unsure.
Cool complexion: complimented by blue based colors
Warm complexion: complimented by yellow, orange based colors
This is a very general explanation of color theory just to give an idea of how to choose colors that will compliment you. Click here to learn more about color theory.

Did you know that your makeup has an expiration date? This cold hard fact can be almost devestating if you meticulously add to your collection with pricey new shades and textures every season.
Over time makeup can harbor bacteria that can cause infections. Keeping your personal care products and tools clean and free of bacteria is an important part of healthy beauty.
Here is a quick reference to determine if your makeup is past it’s prime:
MAKEUP EXPIRATION DATES: (beginning from the time you first open these products)
Powder, Blush, & Eyeshadow: 2 years
Cream Blush & Eyeshadow: 12 – 18 months
Foundation: 1 year
Lipstick & Lipliner: 1 year
Mascara & Eyeliner: 3 months
Makeup Brushes: Clean after each use with a mild detergent

The next time you have a pounding headache or having a sleepless night don’t go to the medicine cabinet for help. A few deep breaths of an essential oil could make all the difference. Aromatherapy is an effective natural alternative to alleviate discomfort and give you some relief from various health symptoms.
It may seem far-fetched that your sense of smell can have specific effects on your physical body. Scents are inhaled and travel across the olfactory nerves stimulating the limbic system which releases endorphins, neurotransmitters, and other chemicals into the body.
At one time or another we’ve all experienced smelling something that triggered a gut reaction; an actual physical sensation. Scientific studies have found that the reaction of specific essential oils and our body’s chemical compounds can have various effects. These include pain relieving, anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, anti-fungal, diuretic, sedating, and more.
For aromatherapy to be most effective you want to be sure that you are using pure high quality essential oils. Many candles and fragrant oils are laced with toxic preservatives and other potentially harmful ingredients. I recommend visiting your local health food store to find a variety of high quality of essential oils to choose from. The National Association For Holistic Aromatherapy is a great resource for information on aromatherapy. I also personally recommend doTERRA Essential Oils. These oils are therapeutic food-grade and some of the purest on the market.

Getting bikini ready can be a very hairy situation. Removing unwanted hair is a must when it comes to looking your best.
There are pros and cons to each method of temporary hair removal. Shaving is fast and inexpensive, however, the stubbly regrowth can appear within hours.
While waxing may buy you more time before regrowth appears, the process is frankly a form of torture and if you don’t go to the right hair removal center, a lot of things could go wrong. Depilatories are painless and effective, nevertheless, absorbing these harsh chemicals into your dermis on a regular basis can lead to detrimental skin damage.
So what’s a hairy girl to do?
Sugaring is an often overlooked hair removal technique. This technique originated in ancient Egypt and can be used on all areas of the body.
A paste made of sugar is applied to the skin in a rolling motion. When removed, it takes the unwanted hair with it. Generally, sugaring results lasts between 4-6 weeks. It is also less painful than waxing because the sugar only adheres to the hair and not the skin and is easily removed with water. Therefore, there is no unnecessary tugging of the skin. Best of all, it is all natural.

An age old cure-all that grandmother swore by was Cod Liver Oil. Some of us may even have memories of having to gulp a spoonful of this concoction every morning. Grandmother knew that cod liver oil could keep you from catching a cold all winter long, but she probably didn’t realize that it could also help you achieve healthy glowing skin.
The average person’s diet is deficient in nutrients that support a healthy complexion. Prior to recent times our ancestors consumed foods containing sufficient amounts of omega fatty acids. Scientific evidence has shown that omega fatty acids can alleviate skin disorders such as acne, eczema, and other inflammatory skin conditions. Cod liver oil is loaded with these skin loving omega fatty acids.
I explain why Cod Liver Oil really works
However, when it comes to consuming fish oils you have to be aware of its purity. All fish oils are not created equal. Nordic Naturals Artic Cod Liver Oil delivers the daily requirements of omega fatty acids without any toxic by products. This is a highly purified pharmaceutical grade fish oil that has been clinically tested to be free of dangerous toxins such as mercury and lead. Because of its purity, this product is three times more potent than any lower grade cod liver oil or typical fish oil found in health food stores.
I have tested Nordic Naturals Artic Cod Liver Oil for several months now and the results are in. This product had worked wonders for my complexion. This cod liver oil has cleared up my blemishes and has prevented any more breakouts. An added bonus is that this product even has a pleasant taste. Go to www.nordicnaturals.com to learn more about this amazing product.
Follow grandmother’s example and take your daily dose of cod liver oil to achieve naturally healthy glowing skin.

Welcome back!
Today I’m featuring our first installment of “Ask the Expert”. Micki from Atlanta, GA asked what natural ingredients she could use as a mask for her oily skin.
Thanks for the question Micki. Masks are a great way to keep oily skin under control and looking its best. The Cream Cheese Lemon mask is great for oily skin. The lemon pulls excess oil from skin while the cream cheese keeps skin soft and supple without depositing any oil. I recommend using it once a week.
Fresh natural ingredients from your kitchen work just as well as any fancy formulas you can purchase. Be sure to do a patch test on a small area of skin before applying to your face in case of any potential allergic reactions.
Cream Cheese Lemon Mask
1/2 lemon (peeled and pureed)
3oz cream cheese (preferably organic)
Mix together until you have a creamy paste. Apply to clean skin for 10-15 minutes. Rinse with warm water. Moisturize as normal.
Keep the questions coming by posting them here as a comment. When in doubt, “Ask the Expert”!

You should probably have your I-Phone handy the next time you go shopping at your local beauty supply store. This is so you can do your research as you shop. It is important to buy products that are manufactured in USA inspected facilities. Products made outside of the United States may or may not be produced with the same quality control as those produced in the United States. This is especially important when it comes to the cosmetics you purchase, including eyelash extension adhesive. Many products make their way to USA shelves deceptively marketed as American made. On this link you can check the best eyelashes extension on the entire USA.
Using a pencil, pen or makeup brush look into a mirror and place your tool from the inner corer of the eye to the outside edge which will let you measure your eye. Technically you should be able to fit the width of one of your eyes perfectly in between the two eyes. When you get overlap (i.e. there’s less than one eyeball width space apart) you tend to have close-set eyes so you want to create the illusion of drawing them apart with lashes that are longer at the outer corners. If the space is bigger than one eyeball width then you have wide-set eyes and want the emphasis to be towards the center and inner corner of the lashes to draw the eyes together.
Things to know before getting eyelash extensions
Hold them in the packet under your nose with the lashes facing outwards; this will identify the left and right lashes as they’re not always marked. To remove always peel them from the outer edge, never from the inner corner. This is because if you bend one section of lashes on the outside it doesn’t matter as it’s more than likely you’ll be trimming them off to fit your eyes anyway. If you bend or break the lash from the inner corner, it matters! Gently tease it out using your fingers or tweezers and rest the lashes back in the box.
Rest the strip lash along your lash line to see whether you need to trim it to size. The strip should start where your natural bulk of eyelashes begin, if you start too close to the inner corner it will irritate your eyes. To mark where your strip lashes should end, go to the outer corner and count 2-4 lashes inwards. If you have them hanging over, it can pull the eyes down.
