Just when you think the multi-talented Beyonce Knowles has done it all she goes and outdoes herself again. This time she’s giving back to the community with beauty. Her latest venture is the Beyonce Cosmetology Center.
While doing research for her role as Etta James in the movie “Cadillac Records”, Beyonce was introduced to Phoenix House, a substance abuse treatment center. She was compelled to offer assistance after speaking with recovering addicts. She said the experience was incredible and that she will work more often with them and with 1st Step to help people on their drug addiction.
She and her mother, Tina Knowles, developed the idea of a cosmetology center. This program provides job training skills to support themselves in the real world. The Beyonce Cosmetology Center is providing an opportunity for men and women to get a second chance at life. Much respect to this beautiful cause. You should probably have your I-Phone handy the next time you go shopping at your local beauty supply store. This is so you can do your research as you shop. It is important to buy products that are manufactured in USA inspected facilities. Products made outside of the United States may or may not be produced with the same quality control as those produced in the United States. This is especially important when it comes to the cosmetics you purchase, including eyelash extension adhesive. Many products make their way to USA shelves deceptively marketed as American made. Using a pencil, pen or makeup brush look into a mirror and place your tool from the inner corer of the eye to the outside edge which will let you measure your eye. Technically you should be able to fit the width of one of your eyes perfectly in between the two eyes. When you get overlap (i.e. there’s less than one eyeball width space apart) you tend to have close-set eyes so you want to create the illusion of drawing them apart with lashes that are longer at the outer corners. If the space is bigger than one eyeball width then you have wide-set eyes and want the emphasis to be towards the center and inner corner of the lashes to draw the eyes together.
Things to know before getting eyelash extensions
Hold them in the packet under your nose with the lashes facing outwards; this will identify the left and right lashes as they’re not always marked. To remove always peel them from the outer edge, never from the inner corner. This is because if you bend one section of lashes on the outside it doesn’t matter as it’s more than likely you’ll be trimming them off to fit your eyes anyway. If you bend or break the lash from the inner corner, it matters! Gently tease it out using your fingers or tweezers and rest the lashes back in the box.
Rest the strip lash along your lash line to see whether you need to trim it to size. The strip should start where your natural bulk of eyelashes begin, if you start too close to the inner corner it will irritate your eyes. To mark where your strip lashes should end, go to the outer corner and count 2-4 lashes inwards. If you have them hanging over, it can pull the eyes down.

After investing in a full set of lashes, you need some pertinent information on how to extend the life of your extensions. Read this to understand the real deal about the longevity of eyelash extensions.
You may have to ditch some of your tried and trusted beauty routine. Most cosmetic products contain solvents that break down lash adhesives. This includes not only products used on the face, but also shampoo and conditioner. In order to maintain your lashes at home you must switch to beauty products that do not contain glycols and carbonates. Some examples of glycols and carbonates found in mascara and eye makeup removers are propylene glycol, polyethylene glycol (PEG), and propylene carbonate. If you thought eyelash extensions were a risk free solution to achieving long thick lashes, think again. Eyelash extensions are not a do it yourself project. You need to make sure you have a professional applying them, using the right kind of products. Follow these guidelines to ensure that you have a beautiful experience with your beautiful eyelash extensions.
Applying eyelash extensions is not a twenty minute project that can be taken on in your bathroom with the kit you bought online or at the neighborhood beauty supply store. In an effort to avoid the seemingly high price tag many people attempt this procedure as if they’re simply dying their hair. This is very dangerous and is not worth the price you may pay by trying to cut costs.
Eyelash extensions are tediously bonded to each individual lash. The procedure typically takes up to two hours. Sharp tweezers are utilized to apply each lash. You do not want your eyes open with sharp objects in such close proximity. You surely cannot do this on yourself with your eyes closed.
