Getting bikini ready can be a very hairy situation. Removing unwanted hair is a must when it comes to looking your best.
There are pros and cons to each method of temporary hair removal. Shaving is fast and inexpensive, however, the stubbly regrowth can appear within hours.
While waxing may buy you more time before regrowth appears, the process is frankly a form of torture and if you don’t go to the right hair removal center, a lot of things could go wrong. Depilatories are painless and effective, nevertheless, absorbing these harsh chemicals into your dermis on a regular basis can lead to detrimental skin damage.
So what’s a hairy girl to do?
Sugaring is an often overlooked hair removal technique. This technique originated in ancient Egypt and can be used on all areas of the body.
A paste made of sugar is applied to the skin in a rolling motion. When removed, it takes the unwanted hair with it. Generally, sugaring results lasts between 4-6 weeks. It is also less painful than waxing because the sugar only adheres to the hair and not the skin and is easily removed with water. Therefore, there is no unnecessary tugging of the skin. Best of all, it is all natural.

mstoi I tried making the wax as per your video and I got it to work with the strips ,however I was interested in trying the ball method as in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2BLZgIKuXI . Please see towards the end of the video, she does not use any strip. Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you.
Hi there. I demonstrate how to use the ball method / flicking method in part 2 of my sugar hair removal video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxjUXAMvFFQ It is very simple. Just form sugar paste into a flat patty and use it as if it were a wax strip. Use this method for smaller areas because the paste gets too sticky to use very quickly. Let me know if you have anymore questions. Thanks for visiting the blog : )
Thanks for the videos! I had been curious about this for years, but (even though I’ve long been a DYIer) I found it too intimidating. I liked the cold water test you recommended, but I am curious if I may have over cooked mine. When cold, exactly how hard is the wax supposed to be? When cold mine became *super* hard… like candy lol. I tried the rolling/flicking method just to test it out, but I was only mildly successful. I cooked it till I was able to form a ball with it after putting it in cool water. Maybe my water wasn’t cold enough? Thanks for any further tips!
Hi there. It sounds like you overcooked your batch slightly. When you do the cold water test the paste should be pliable enough to mold, but stiff enough to hold a shape. If it is rock hard it has cooked for too long. As for the application, if the paste did not remove the hairs it means you may not have prepped your skin properly. Be sure that your skin is clean of any products then lightly exfoliate and dust lightly with cornstarch or powder. Just forewarn you the rolling method is best for smaller areas the underarm because the paste will begin to melt from your body heat and turn too sticky for prolonged use. Hope this helps. Sugaring works very well for removing hair from the bikini area. You’ll find it much gentler on the skin than regular waxing. Thank you for visiting the blog : )
