Did you know that your skin is naturally equipped to prevent acne, eczemapsoriasis, and other skin issues?  However, your natural skin-saver only works when the skin’s pH level is balanced .  Learn how to maintain the proper pH level of your skin and you will know the secret to perfect skin.

pH scaleThe proper pH level of our skin is about 5.5 on the pH scale.  This means that our skin is slightly acidic.  This acidity (also known as the acid mantle) naturally protects our skin from bacteria and pollutants, therefore, preventing skin issues such as acne.

Most of the products that we use on our skin, including tap water, temporarily alter the skin’s pH level.  This destroys the acid mantle leaving our skin vulnerable to acne-causing bacteria.  Even if you use pH balanced skincare products your skin’s pH level will be effected from rinsing with tap water.

A simple way to maintain your skin’s proper pH level is to add acidic water to your skincare routine.  You can make acidic water by adding one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to one cup of distilled water.  Use the acidic water as a final rinse after washing your face.  You can also use it as a toner.
